Notes
- The American playoff picture solidified a bit during Week 12. Denver, Portland, and Memphis are all 8-4; only two can make it. Memphis is the long shot, as the Showboats finish with four games against teams that are all 10-2. Denver has three winnable games, but must also play mighty Boston. Portland has a big game this week against the Hawaiians, as a Storm victory would give them the edge for one of the wild-card spots.
- Five teams are still in the race for two wild-card spots in the National Conference. Shreveport has the easiest road, but the Steamer plays Jacksonville, another contender, in two weeks. New Jersey has three winnable games followed by its season finale against Boston.
- The Southern California Sun handed San Jose just its second loss, 25-22, on Donald Gary's 47-yard field goal with 2:10 to play.
- The San Antonio Gunslingers outlasted the Detroit Wheels, 22-17, on Monday Night Football, taking a little of the shine off this week's Chicago-Detroit matchup. This was a defensive struggle all the way, as both QBs had tough days, a combined 28-for-70 passing and 10 sacks.
- The Midwest Division lead is up for grabs on Sunday Night Football when the Detroit Wheels host the Chicago Blitz. The Stars come out on Monday Night Football when the Baltimore Stars host the New York Stars.
